Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan | आत्मनिर्भर भारत अभियान

Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan is a vision of the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi of making India a self-reliant nation. The first mention of this came in the form of the 'Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan' or 'Self-Reliant India Mission during the announcement of Coronavirous pandemic related economic package on 12 May 2020. The self-reliant policy does not aim to be protectionist in nature and as the finance Minister clarified, "self-reliant India does not mean cutting off from the rest of the world." The law and IT Minister, Ravi shankar Prasad, said that self-reliance that does "not mean isolating away from the world. Foreign direct investment is welcome, Technology is welcome, self-reliant India translates to being a bigger and more important part of the global economy."

On May 12, the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, announced a special economic package of Rs. 20 lakh crore (equivalent to 10% of India's GDP) with the aim of making the country independent against the tough competition in the global supply chain and to help in empowering the poor, Labourers, migrants, who have been adversely affected by COVID. Following this announcement, the finance Minister Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman through five press conferences announced the detailed measures under the economic package. This  not summaries the key measures proposed under the economic package. 


What is Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan?

Emphasizing that the special economic package would focus on land, labour, liquidity and laws, PM Modi said would benefit labourers,farmers,honest tax payers MSMEs and cottage industry. 


In his fifth address to the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an economic package totaling ₹20 lakh crore to tide over the COVID-19 crisis under Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan.The ₹20 lakh crore package include the government's recent announcements on supporting key sectors and measures by Reserve bank of India. 


PM Modi said the economic package would be around the 10% of the GDP. 'I announce a special economic package today. This will play an import role in Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan.The announcements made bye the government on COVID-19, decisions of RBI today's package total to Rs 20 lakh crore. This is 10 percent of India's GDP. 

The prime minister said the goal of the country would be become self reliant, and identified economy and infrastructure as key drivers for it. He said making the country self-reliant was only make 21st  century belong to India.

India's self- reliance will be based on five pillars-economy, infrastructure,technology driven system, vibrant, demography and demand. When India speaks of self-reliance. It does not advocate for a self- centered system.In India's self-reliance there is the concern for the whole world's happiness, cooperation and peace.PM Modi said.
